Webb3 feb. 2024 · How big is the dish in the OEM 5.7L Vortec pistons? I've seen photos on the internet supposedly of Vortec 5.7L pistons that have a massive dish. GM claims the cylinder heads are 64cc, which to me implies a small-dish piston unless GM has started paying attention to quench/squish distance. Webb17 juni 2024 · Ok, I'm leaving the piston dish volume out of the discussion for the moment, and am focusing on the piston deck profile! Perhaps revisit my images in posts #5 and #6. WebbFor an MGA 1600 with dished pistons, this is about 15cc, for a total of about 53.8cc final chamber volume, and giving the 8.3:1 compression ratio. My best guess is about 10cc for the dish in the piston, and about 5cc for the space above the piston. If you resurface the block, the space above the piston gets smaller.
